Putative Father Registry

“The Kansas Putative Father Registry was established pursuant to K.S.A. 23-36,201(a)(7) in 1994. This statute directs that the Registry shall be kept by the Secretary of the Department for Children and Families. The statute does not require that the Registry be searched prior to proceeding with an adoption (although anyone may make an inquiry to see if someone is registered). It also does not require DCF to take any action other than to maintain the Registry. DCF is not responsible for ensuring information is accurate or current. DCF is under no obligation to notify a registrant if an inquiry is made. Finally, registering with the Putative Father Registry subjects a putative father to the jurisdiction of the state if he is a non-resident. To add a father to the registry please contact Child Services Support and they will direct you.”

Adoption Law/Revocation

This page does not provide legal services or advice. Adoption law and revocation is listed as a courtesy. The page attempts to link to the latest adoption codes in the respective state. Laws can change. Verify your adoption laws and revocation timeframes before signing termination of your parental rights.

A consent or relinquishment may not be given by the mother or accepted until 12 hours after the birth of a child.

A consent is final when executed, unless the consenting party, prior to final decree of adoption, alleges and proves by clear and convincing evidence that the consent was not freely and voluntarily given.

End An Adoption Plan

If you are looking for help in severing your relationship with an adoption facilitator, revoking your legal consent to an adoption, or learning more about the adoption process and long-term effects, please contact Saving Our Sisters

Pay It Forward

If you have been a recipient of help, you know firsthand how essential volunteers and/or donations were to your success. Please consider volunteering for or donating to any of the vital organizations on this page.
